1. Brown the beef.
2. Dump beef into a strainer OVER ANOTHER POT (keep the fat!!) - set beef aside
3. Saute the onions in the beef fat you just saved - set aside
3.b Sometimes I also saute some garlic here if I'm feeling fancy...
4. Set onions (and garlic, if you added some) aside - do not just keep them cooking, they will turn bitter and AWFUL
5. Cook the shrimp on the stove top until they turn pink and the "shrimp juice" is boiling - do NOT OVERCOOK
6. Set shrimp aside (do not drain them - keep the juices and everything)
7. Puree broccoli, kale and spinach together, using the water as needed
7.b Puree the absolute crap out of them - this becomes your soup base.
7.c The smoother it is the better the soup is.
7.d I use a Ninja on the "smoothie" setting and blend it all TWICE
8. Put your puree in a giant pot, mix in salt/potassium chloride and shrimp juice
9. Bring to a boil
10. Add in mushrooms, squash, carrots and saute'd onions
11. Let simmer for about an hour (or until the carrots and squash are cooked to your liking)
12. Add in onions, beef and shrimp
13. Stir and let cook for MAYBE 5 minutes.
13.b Really as little time as possible here, remember this is all ALREADY cooked at this point.
13.c Overcooked beef, shrimp, and/or onions and garlic are NASTY - DO NOT OVERCOOK THEM HERE OR YOU WILL RUIN THE WHOLE THING
At no point in this can you really "leave it to cook". You have to keep stirring or else things will burn.
I eat 3 big scoops at a time, which weigh 28 oz total, so that's what I made the serving size. This, along with 2 or 3 snacks of Ezekiel's sodium-free bread with fresh tomatoes and some of my homemade sriracha (also sugar and sodium free) is often all I eat in a day. Kept me full when I was 300 pounds, still works great now that I'm down to 190 or so.
